Heiko Spallek Research Distribution of knowledge |
SummaryFigure 4: Distribution of knowledge.
Research needs to lead into distribution of newly discovered knowledge. According to ADA’s 2000 Survey of Current Issues in Dentistry, over 85 percent of all dentists in the United States use computers in their practice. However, only billing and practice management are the main reasons for computer use in the dental office. New systems and applications for clinical dentistry are emerging and can benefit patient care, such as digital radiography, intraoral cameras, automatic online ordering, automated acquisition of clinical parameters and much more. Thus, one of the goals of my research is to distribute knowledge about how such systems can improve patient care, dental education and dental research.
